Encoder Settings

This section contains notes on encoder setup. These notes are intended as a guideline and do not necessarily reflect the most recent software version of each encoder. If your encoder is not mentioned, please refer to your manual.

Digital Rapids

Set the encoder to use Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) for live streams.

For the DR SelenioFlex:

Elemental Live

Set the encoder to use Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) for live streams.

../../../_images/clock.png ../../../_images/offset.png

Unchecking Use Event Start Date in the Timecode Config and setting Timestamp Offset to be Jan 1 1970 will set the encoder to use UTC, starting with the Unix epoch.

Unchecking Use Event id will allow 'restart-on-encoder-reconnect' to work seamlessly within the same publishing point.

Also, Timecode Insertion should be enabled per stream, as shown below:

Expression Encoder 4 SP1

Set the encoder to use Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) for live streams.

Use the following parameters:

Video codec H264 Baseline
Key frame period 2880 ms
Frame rate custom @ 25 fps
Audio codec MPEG4-AAC
Sampling rate 48KHz or 32 KHz

If you plan on encoding live streams with Expression Encoder 4 you also have to configure what you return as the Server HTTP response Header. The default is Full which sends information about the OS-type and compiled in modules.

In your /etc/apache2/conf.d/security:

ServerTokens Full

Note

When using Expression Encoder 4 please read the section on Event ID.

Envivio 4Caster

Set the encoder to use Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) for live streams.

Use the following parameters:

Video codec Extreme H264 Baseline
Key frame period 2880 ms
Frame rate custom @ 25 fps
Audio codec MPEG4-AAC
Sampling rate 48KHz or 32 KHz

MediaExcel HERO

Set the encoder to use Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) for live streams.
